Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate student-centered School Counselor to join our team for the academic year. The ideal candidate will provide social-emotional and behavioral support to students foster family and community collaboration and help create a safe and inclusive school environment that promotes personal and academic success for all role is integral to supporting students mental health social-emotional development and overall well-being within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) framework.Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling to support students social-emotional development academic engagement and mental health needs.
- Implement and monitor social-emotional learning (SEL) and behavioral interventions aligned with students individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with teachers administrators and specialists to develop strategies for supporting students in crisis or with behavioral challenges.
Serve as a liaison between home school and community agencies to connect families with appropriate supports and resources. - Participate in IEP and Student Support Team meetings contributing to the development of social-emotional and behavioral goals.
- Provide crisis response risk assessment and safety planning as needed.
- Support school-wide initiatives related to bullying prevention restorative practices and mental health awareness.
- Facilitate staff training and consultation on trauma-informed practices de-escalation and positive behavioral supports.
- Assist with transitions between educational placements grade levels or life changes that impact student adjustment.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with federal and state regulations (FERPA IDEA etc.).
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee to support the overall mission of the school.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelors Degree required Masters Degree in School Counseling Social Work Psychology or related field preferred
- Massachusetts DESE licensure as a School Counselor or School Adjustment Counselor/Social Worker (or eligible for licensure)
- Demonstrated experience working with students who have social-emotional behavioral or mental health challenges
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to equity inclusion and trauma-sensitive school practices
Employment is contingent upon passing a SAFIS fingerprint and CORI screening.
