EMT FLOAT Ambulance Services

The EMT Float is responsible for the safe transportation and patient care of Basic Life Support patients to and from medical facilities along with assistance of basic patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of the registered nurse within the Emergency Department.

Requirements

• Current Certification in VA-EMT-Basic EMT-Enhanced or EMT-Advanced
• EVOC prior to end of orientation period
• CPR
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1-year Prehospital or Interfacility EMT Transportation preferred

Skills

• HIPAA appropriately manages Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Annual education and competencies as required per hospital certifications.
• Personal Protective Equipment when appropriate.
• Safe Patient Handling devices to minimize risk of injury.
• Maintains calm and safe approach within the work environment towards those that display violent or aggressive behavior.
• Able to communicate with patients and other staff verbal auditory and in written form using Augusta Health documentation.
• Strong interpersonal and customer skills.
• Minimum age of 21.
