What you will do- Oversee the day-to-day operations of SBCs Testing Laboratory which consists of 3 distinct functions infectious disease testing product QC and operations : Directly manage department structure and suggest changes to organizational structure to increase efficiency service quality and team member engagement. Collaborate with department supervisors to set department goals and timelines. Serve as technical resource for one or more instruments in the department. Perform highly complex manual and automated testing on donor and clinical samples. Oversee completion of equipment maintenance instrumentation calibration qc documentation and ensure adequate supply of supplies and equipment. Write/revise SOPs training and validation plans for current and new technologies. Evaluate and identify workflow efficiencies. Develop training materials for new and revised SOPs for team members. Train team members on new/revised SOPs and instrumentation. Assess team members competency at 6 months for new hires and annually thereafter. Develop and implement department specific processes/procedures and quality control programs to ensure reliability of testing procedures proper function of laboratory equipment and compliance to safety/health and state/federal regulations. Monitor and evaluate equipment systems and supplies to ensure operational efficiency and reliability of results. Prepare technical reports reflecting department process volume testing results analysis adverse trends conclusions or recommendations for management and other hospital personnel. Ensure completion of special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Manage a team of licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientists 2 supervisors and their teams of unlicensed Laboratory Technicians and Operations Support : Design appropriate work schedules for subordinate employees and plan daily work assignments in order to maintain adequate staffing to meet customer service needs. Develop supervisors and team members by delegating responsibilities or tasks that utilize their strengths. Plan and schedule supervisors workload. Interview hire and evaluate supervisors and team members. Perform all human resource management responsibilities such as conducting team member performance appraisals promotions transfers interviews hiring disciplining and terminations in consultation with SBC Human Resources. Supervise laboratory team members engaged in performing routine and specialized technical procedures. Plan laboratory work assignments evaluate work performed and provide direction decisions in handling procedural and technical problems.
- Accountable for the strong performance of SBCs external blood testing revenue business line including meeting contract commitments and ensuring high customer satisfaction that leads to customer/revenue : Ensure staffing and workflow meet contract commitments regarding TAT and quality. Ensure adequate reagent and chemical inventory to accomplish testing needs. Troubleshoot and escalate technical problems with equipment or IS systems. Accountable for working with third party logistics providers to ensure customer products are delivered on time. Serve as primary point of contact for external customers or delegate an accountable representative to do so.
- Responsible for using frequently changing customer utilization patterns to make decisions regarding staffing operations and expenditures for areas of responsibility collaborate with other departments to meet customer : Monitor timely collection and analysis of statistical data relating to quality control work volume consignment and receipts pricing and assay performance. Direct preparation of recurring and special reports. Manage decisions on technical matters affecting workflow methods quality control accurate and timely reporting of results and proper storage and dispensation of blood products. Develop recommend approve and implement process improvement programs for areas of responsibility.
- Manage implementation of policies and procedures and ensure that team members understand and adhere to established policies and : Formulate and analyze administrative and technical policies and procedures in accordance with professional and regulatory standards. Interpret and apply company and department policies and procedures. Ensure that own department complies with government and accrediting agency regulations and standards. - Perform long range personnel and fiscal planning. Participate in organizational and departmental budget development in collaboration with department leadership and effectively manage the Technical Services : Participate in departmental space utilization and collaboration with department supervisors make decisions regarding purchase of capital equipment and equipment maintenance. Develop recommend approve and implement expenditures. Performs timely review and approval of payroll for direct reports.
- Promote and exemplify service excellence through the integration and execution of key company programs (such as C-I-Care) and internally generated : Participate in developing standards and principles of Service Excellence.
