Job Summary

To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for each district student by creating a climate of health and well-being in the schools. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: and protects the optimal health status of children. health a health and developmental mandated by the State screens students for vision hearing scoliosis growth dental etc. and evaluates the child for development and health patterns in making nursing assessment and nursing deviant health and implements a health the health status of students to parents and school referrals to parents school personnel and community health resources for intervention remediation and on-going health counseling with students parents school personnel and health and helps to implement modification of school programs to meet students health existing health resources to provide appropriate care of evaluates and interprets student health and implements school health management protocols for the child with special health needs including the administration of medication. procedures and provides for crisis intervention for acute illness injury and emotional and assists in the control of communicable diseases through preventative immunization programs early detection surveillance and reporting and follow-up of contagious provisions for a safe school environment conducive to health parenting skills as they relate to child development and health needs of direct health education and health counseling to assist students and families in making decisions on health and life styles that affect with students concerning chronic health conditions mental health issues problems such as pregnancy sexually transmitted diseases and substance abuse or any other emotional issue that impedes a students ability to function in the as a resource person to the classroom teacher and administrator in health instruction and as a member of the health curriculum development school and community health activities and serves as a liaison person between the home school and as a resource person in promoting health careers. health counseling for leadership and/or support for staff in research and evaluation of school health services to act as a change agent for school health programs and school nursing in the formation of health policies goals and objectives for the school the health office budget making sure that the appropriate medical supplies are on hand and restocked when with other office responsibilities as directed by the principal such as lunch coverage answering phones etc.
