We are looking for a full-time team-oriented Maintenance Technician to add to ShelterCares facilities team to perform a wide range of maintenance duties at assigned ShelterCare properties.

ShelterCare facilities department of Eugene OR is hiring a full-time Maintenance Technician. This role will be involved in the repair and upkeep of all ShelterCare facilities including apartments and houses. You will be doing indoor and outdoor painting; drywall; perform dry-rot repair; frame doors; install windows; and perform floor repair underlayment tile carpet and vinyl. You will also do some minor plumbing; such as clearing drains and toilets; replacing hot water tanks faucets shower valves etc. Youll perform many mechanical repair tasks such as replacing repairing and cleaning exhaust fans dryer ducts and vents and servicing existing furnaces filters etc. You will change outlets; Switches; GFIs; fixtures; youll rebuild heaters thermostats change bulbs & ballast etc.

The Maintenance Technician is a non-exempt; hourly poistion and earns a starting wage of $20.33 - $22.00 per hour depending on a number of factors.

Being team oriented and maintaining consistent attendance is vital to the ongoing work of ShelterCares maintenance team. Once trained you will be on the emergency on-call schedule*.

*For the seven consecutive days an employee is on-call the assigned worker will receive on-call pay in the amount of $75 for the five weekdays and $125 for the weekend on-call for a total of $200 for a seven-day shift.

Its very important to note that youll be interacting with ShelterCare clients on a daily basis. Most of ShelterCares clients have either a history of homelessness and/or serious mental illness.

ABOUT SHELTERCARE

ShelterCare is a social services agency that is directed by a board of community volunteers. We have multiple programs in the Eugene/Springfield area. We offer a range of housing solutions combined with wraparound services for families and community members who are experiencing homelessness on the verge of becoming homeless and have a serious mental illness. Because of the variety of services we offer we are able to help many people in our community.

QUALIFICATIONS

Aptitude for learning quickly; Must be able to work on ladders scaffolding lifts etc; Be able to lift push and pull up to 50 pounds for an extended period of time; Knowledge of fencing concrete work furniture refinishing and preventative maintenance; Must be available for weekly rotating on-call schedule; Ability to drive agency vehicles; Ability to successfully pass a DHS background check

Experience working with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness
