The Manager assists the Director in directing a team of senior consultants and consultants in helping clients identify and claim R&E commonly known as Research and Development (R&D) tax credits and then assists the R&E Director and/or Sr. Manager in defending those credits when necessary in the context of an audit by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and/or state tax authorities. The Manager will diagnose develop and implement solutions for client tax needs. The Manager will also direct tax research formulate tax plans train new staff employees senior consultants and consultants and perform tax reviews.

Duties and responsibilities as they align to Ryans Key Results:

  • Conduct QA/QC reviews of R&D tax credit studies for accuracy and completeness.

  • Support quality control for cost segregation 179D and 45L studies.

  • Assist in developing review protocols and training materials.

  • Maintain a small book of studies to stay technically sharp.

  • Participate in client calls and provide technical support as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Engineering or related field.

  • 3 years of experience in federal tax incentives especially R&D credits.

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation standards.

  • Effective communication and organizational skills.

Professional Skills:

  • Must have excellent organization and time management skills strong communication skills and willingness to learn and be a team player.

  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Word Access Excel PowerPoint and Outlook as well as Internet navigation and legal/technical tax code research tools.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Valid drivers license required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Assists Director and/or Manager as requested to directly supervise employees in the R&D Tax practice and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Firms policies and applicable laws.

Work Environment:

  • Standard indoor working environment.

  • Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.

  • Position requires regular interaction with employees and clients both in person and via e-mail and telephone.

  • Travel Requirement: up to 30 - 50%
