About the Role:

You are responsible for financial oversight for ATCO Electrics Yukon based subsidiary ATCO Electric Yukon (AEY).In this role you will report directly to the Manager North of 60. Youll need to exercise supervisory skills and you are responsible for accurate reporting business planning and forecasting to facilitate financial management will also support the regulatory team with their reporting and filings.

What Youll Do:

• Provide financial leadership for AEY managing day-to-day accounting operations and helping to establish and maintain effective internal controls.
  • Leading Financial Services team meetings to promote alignment and collaboration
  • Supervising accounting staff and supporting their growth and development
  • Reviewing account reconciliations for accuracy and completeness
  • Preparing reviewing and approving journal entries
  • Reviewing fixed asset processes including retirements and capitalizations
  • Supporting training and succession planning within the Financial Services team
  • Conducting performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback
  • Acting as the primary contact for internal and external audit activities
• Oversee AEYs financial reporting function ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial and accounting information to support decision-making across the organization.
  • Monthly management reporting including operational costs and capital expenditure reporting
  • Monthly and quarterly reporting for executive leadership
  • Annual Audited Financial Statements
  • Annual Utility Financial Results for the Yukon Utilities Board and customer representatives
• Lead AEYs planning and forecasting activities ensuring business plans and forecasts are completed accurately and on time.
• Manage the Utility Financial Model and GRA coordination including:
  • Producing and maintaining AEYs Utility Financial Model
  • Coordinating GRA schedules and ensuring appropriate documentation and variance analysis
  • Supporting the Manager as directed in AEYs GRA-related activities

What Youll Bring:

• A post-secondary degree in Business Administration Finance or a related field with a major in accounting is preferred.
• A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA CMA or CGA) is required along with 57 years of progressive relevant experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with a proven ability to inspire guide and develop high-performing teams.
• A strategic mindset with the ability to see the big picture anticipate challenges and make sound forward-thinking decisions.
• Familiarity with the electric utility industry and its regulatory environment is a strong asset.
• Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities with a commitment to maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
• A natural relationship-builder who can collaborate effectively across departments and influence without authority.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and confidently.
