About the Role
Under general supervision the Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in providing high-quality developmental care and education for children enrolled in our childcare center. The position helps foster intellectual emotional social and physical growth in a safe nurturing and engaging learning environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote development in all learning domains.
Supervise and engage with children throughout the day to ensure safety and well-being.
Act as the classroom lead in the absence of the teacher maintaining consistency and structure.
Support the creation of a clean organized and stimulating classroom and outdoor play area.
Model positive interactions and use appropriate encouraging language and discipline strategies.
Observe document and communicate childrens developmental progress and behavioral patterns.
Maintain accurate daily attendance reports and other required records.
Communicate effectively with families about their childs activities and any incidents that occur.
Participate in professional development opportunities (trainings workshops classes) to meet annual state requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Prefer: Child Development Associate (CDA) Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or at least 30 semester hours with six credits in Early Childhood Education.
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent will be accepted.
Skills:
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to provide compassionate patient and engaging support to young children.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 3550 lbs as needed (with assistive devices for heavier loads).
Ability to stand bend and engage in active play for extended periods.
Must complete TB screening and required health clearances per childcare licensing standards.
