About the role:

Greenpeace Canada (GPC) is seeking a Greenspeakers Manager to successfully implement the Greenspeakers Grow Three-Year Plan and to build and deliver educational programs to inspire the next generation of changemakers through school presentations speaking engagements and community events.

Under the direction of the GCEF Director and working collaboratively with Greenspeakers volunteers the Greenspeakers Manager will be responsible for developing educational resources for distribution across channels tailored to key audiences; leading Greenspeakers volunteer recruitment training and outreach; establishing relationships with school boards and educators in strategic locations across Canada; and setting and delivering on targets.

In this way the Greenspeakers Manager will establish a strong foundation for this new collaborative initiative between the Greenpeace Canada Education Fund (GCEF) and Greenpeace Canada (GPCA) enabling the program to flourish for many years to come.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Implement Greenspeakers Grow Three-Year Plan; identify and incorporate key recommendations from Environmental Education Program Needs Assessment Report review and refine 3YP and work with the Greenspeakers team to achieve key goals and outputs
2. Build strong relationships with the Greenspeakers team reporting to the GCEF Director being supervised by the GPCA Actions & Organizing Unit Head and working closely with volunteers.
3. Develop and establish renewal processes for curriculum-aligned educational resources materials presentations and activities that are informed by research findings and best practices and tailored to key audiences and methods of delivery.
4. Ensure necessary systems and procedures are in place to attract engage train retain and grow a strong pool of Greenspeakers volunteers.
5. Ensure necessary systems and procedures are in place to manage presentation requests from teachers.
6. Build a team of skilled Greenspeakers volunteers to deliver engaging educational activities in each of the three program pillar areas: Greenspeakers in Schools Greenspeakers Events and Greenpeace in Community.
7. Perform outreach to school boards to promote and build awareness of the Greenspeakers program.
8. Organize and participate in Greenspeakers events.
9. As resources are secured hire and supervise up to three Greenspeakers Organizers to support volunteer operations and management.
10. With a focus on continuous improvement develop and implement assessment tools and systems to collect and integrate feedback from staff volunteers students/teachers and event participants.
11. Ensure the program is adequately promoted and regular updates are shared with stakeholders including the preparation of reports and the delivery of program presentations.
12. Ensure fundraising opportunities are appropriately integrated into engagement offerings.
13. Promote GCEF externally to various audiences promoting the charitys mission and need for additional support.
14. Provide leadership and role-modelling for Code of Conduct and Duty of Care principles and policies.
15. Maintain volunteer requests and participation records.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Verbal and written communication presentation skills and interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership skills will proven experience leading trainingand motivating diverse groups of volunteers
• Experience analyzing and evaluating information; planning strategies and anticipating ramifications
• Ability to prepare monitor and control expenditures and overall budget.
• Highly developed organizational and time management skills
• Experience producing online and offline documents educational resources reports training manuals and promotional materials.
• Strong knowledge understanding and commitment to environmental education curriculum design and the objectives of the Greenpeace Canada Education Fund (GCEF) as well as familiarity with the broader Greenpeace networks culture and tactics.
• Proven ability to build and sustain partnerships with school boards and educators to deliver impactful programming with awareness of gaps in student and educator needs related to environmental issues and solutions.
• Knowledge and experience in volunteer management including recruitment engagement training and ongoing support to foster a thriving volunteer community.
• Solid understanding of the principles and practices of diversity equity and inclusion with the ability to integrate them into program design and delivery.
• Knowledge of Indigenous rights the history and ongoing impacts of colonization in Canada and anti-oppression frameworks with the capacity to apply this understanding to strengthen the relevance and accessibility of GCEFs work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. French bilingualism will be considered an asset.
• Knowledge of First Nations Inuit and Métis languages are highly desirable.
• Knowledge of other languages that reflect the diversity of Canadas many communities are also highly desirable.

Candidates should understand and support the Greenpeace campaign tactics including the use of peaceful civil disobedience.
