The Department of Classics and Religious Studies invites applications for a Long-Term Appointment (LTA). The successful candidate will hold a teaching-focused position with a five-year contract. The appointment carries a guaranteed workload of the equivalent of seven three-credit courses per academic year including teaching and academic support duties.

Teaching duties

The successful candidate will contribute to core undergraduate offerings in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) and Religious Studies (SRS) and will play a key role in supporting new and emerging programs in these areas. Courses will include introductory and upper-year offerings. Specific courses will be confirmed annually by the Chair of the Department.

Academic support duties

In addition to teaching the appointment includes significant administrative and program support responsibilities such as:

  • Interdisciplinary Studies.
  • Psychedelic Studies.
  • Religious Studies.

Members with an LTA are guaranteed a workload equal to seven (7) three-credit courses per academic year at least one of which shall be assigned in the form of academic support duties.

Requirements

  • A completed Ph.D. in a relevant field by the time of appointment.
  • Bilingualism (oral and written) in English and French is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in interdisciplinary theory and methods.
  • Ability to teach in at least two different disciplines within the Arts.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with evidence of service and/or program coordination experience.
