Join us at the Good Samaritan Society - Specialty Care Community a 96-bed facility provides rehabilitation therapy in both our young adult and geriatric communities following a hospitalization or serious illness. Our 3 floors are separated into 2 self-contained wings each that house 16 residents all with private rooms that include wheelchair/lift accessible shower and toilet dining area and nurses station.

The scope of work is to optimize nutritional status by providing medical nutrition therapy which includes identifying clients/patients/residents at nutritional risk determining intervention (diet modification nutrition support etc.) educating and counseling to promote nutritional health and evaluating outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions.

Job Description

Coordinates activities of medical nutrition therapy staff. Provides leadership guidance and acts as a resource through consultation with associates and community agencies. Assist with interviewing hiring counseling disciplining and performance management. Will coordinate education and training of subordinates and dietetic students. Will be expected to manage clinical performance improvement programs and assist with all projects and documentation required to meet organizational regulatory agencies and their clinical role may work with all ages of clients. Coordinate plan and participate in community activities regarding medical nutrition therapy according to quality standards. Optimization of nutritional status by providing medical nutrition therapy to clients/patients/residents with nutrition risk. This includes determination of nutritional status through nutritional assessment individualized care plans provider order recommendations and implementation of nutrition therapy (including verbal orders diet modification nutrition support oral nutrition supplements) education and counseling for disease and nutrition risk management and evaluation of outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions. Additionally includes: optimization of self-management education and skills in the care of clients/patients/residents with chronic conditions. Awareness and consciousness of individuals insurance coverage and reimbursement circumstances and participate in clinical performance improvement activities including research that tests new treatments or procedures for clinical evidence of outcomes. Ability to recognize evaluates and provide for nutritional needs based on cultural ethnic and religious beliefs. Ability to assess and apply client/patient/resident care protocols relating to all ages as required. Must demonstrate and maintain clinical nutrition expertise.

Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelors degree in dietetics or food and nutrition through an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited program.

Two years of experience as a Clinical Dietitian in a leadership role is required. Must have a thorough knowledge of normal and therapeutic nutrition. Requires knowledge of management and reimbursement and strong leadership abilities.

Currently holds Registered Dietitian (RD) license within the applicable state(s). Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
