Job Summary

Title: District OfficeTechnician- English Language (EL)

Type: Classified

Reports to: EL Curriculum Coordinator

PURPOSE: The District Office Technician - English Language (EL) position works in collaboration with the EL Curriculum Coordinator to ensure the efficient and compliant operation of the EL programs to support English learners across the Buckeye Elementary School District.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (or able to obtain within 60 days from start date)
  • Proficient computer skills in Google and Microsoft Suite systems
  • Experience in student records systems i.e. Synergy (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Speak write and read English and Spanish fluently

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Essential functions as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include any of the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics.   • Takes direction from the EL program coordinator within the Curriculum Instruction and Assessment department
  • Works independently or with the assigned team members to ensure the completion of duties and tasks assigned
  • Responsible for duties pertaining to EL students but not limited to:
    • Ensuring the students whose Home Language Survey (HLS) indicates a need for assessment are tested in accordance with state and federal regulation
    • Maintaining all appropriate compliance documentation for HLS and EL students
    • Ensuring AZELLA test results are accurately posted in Synergy (student management system)
    • Administering the AZELLA placement test and the Annual AZELLA Reassessment
    • Reconciling EL data between the districts student management system with the Arizona Department of Educations data system
    • Creating and maintaining documentation for each student tested with the AZELLA
    • Communicating with teachers and parents/families regarding students EL progress and/or status
    • Assisting in the distribution of documents to EL students and families.
  • Maintains district audit documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal law
  • Attends meetings district activities and training as assigned.
  • Engages in professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Represents the district and EL department in a professional manner
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned

The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and to interact with the public and other staff.

While performing the duties of the job the employee must have the ability to do the following:

  1. Ability to read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
  2. Ability to write general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
  3. Ability to interpret an assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.
  4. Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.

Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary Range - $18.67 Technician/ Differential Interpreter supplemental - $0.25 per hour added to the base hourly rate

Non-Exempt 12-month position

One-year limited-term appointment

Participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)
