Job Summary

The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a dedicated and motivated Local Agroforestry Coordinator for our hosted organization CIFOR-ICRAF in the region.

About CIFOR-ICRAF: More than a research instituteit is a hub of the brightest minds working together to develop nature-based solutions for forested and tree-based landscapes. We collaborate with governments academia civil society and the private sector to address five major global challenges: deforestation and biodiversity loss the climate crisis the transformation of unsustainable food systems unsustainable value and supply chains and extreme inequality.

About the role: The selected candidate for this position will be responsible for coordinating the implementation monitoring and systematization of activities related to the Agroecology TPP specifically for the B-REAL within the framework of Multifunctional Landscapes program in Ucayali. The role will lead the co-design and co-learning activities on tree-based systems interventions and support the pilot of a decision-support tool to guide technical assistance and communication on integrating agroecological and tree-based practices into farming and natural resource management systems in Ucayali.

Key responsibilities:

Systematize and characterize Nature initiatives within the projects scope identifying gender barriers and opportunities for scaling in prioritized landscapes and presenting them in a summary report and structured database.
Develop methodological and technical inputs for the creation of farm (Planes prediales) and community plans (SEAL CUSAF) with a focus on strengthening the role of tree-based systems.
Contribute with methodological inputs to the adaptation of the local V2A process to strengthen the co-design approach at nested levels (plot farm community landscape) in connection to MFL.
Provide technical inputs on tree-based practices that contribute to improving biodiversity in agricultural systems and land-use mosaics in areas and land use systems identified with project partners (based on the DB and on existing material and tools from CIFOR ICRAF).
Participate in the establishment of a network of learning sites on tree-based Nature practices and approaches.
Design and implement participatory training modules on tree-based Nature practices aimed at biodiversity conservation and improving production on farms.
Support the expansion and application of a tool for selecting tree species in order to improve biodiversity on plots and in the landscape.
Carry out complementary activities that contribute to CIFOR-ICRAF research and support the intervention of the national technical team in Ucayali within the framework of the institutional agenda.
Prepare and submit technical progress and final reports in accordance with the formats deadlines and guidelines established in the sub-agreement.

Requirements

What are we looking for

Master in Forestry Environmental or Agronomic engineering with a minimum of five years of experience in coordinating field projects related to agroforestry restoration and agroecology.
Minimum 5 years demonstrated professional experience in similar positions especially in international organizations or NGOs.
Required Skills:
Demonstrated experience in coordinating with local stakeholders conducting participatory workshops and developing training materials Technical writing skills proficiency with basic office tools and availability for frequent travel to rural areas in Ucayali for field work. Familiarity with stakeholders and CIFOR-ICRAFs agenda in Ucayali is also desired Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proactivity to anticipate and take on new tasks as necessary particularly when dealing with virtual work environments Proven ability to work in a multicultural environment while carrying out multiple tasks on a daily basis with a positive attitude. Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills.
