In 2023 the ILO and the Brazilian government approved the Brazil-ILO South-South Cooperation Program for 2023-2027 entitled Social Justice for the Global South which aims to contribute to the advancement and promotion of decent work and social justice in developing countries in Latin America and the Caribbean Africa and Asia-Pacific by supporting the expansion of partner countries capacities to develop strengthen and integrate policies programs and initiatives in four areas of action: the eradication of child labor and forced labor; strengthening occupational safety and health (OSH) and labor inspection; promoting gender racial and generational equity and equality in the world of work; and promoting decent employment and social protection.
The project Towards Sustainable Development in the Peruvian Amazon: Prevention of Child and Forced Labor in Ucayali seeks to contribute to the prevention and eradication of child and forced labor in the Peruvian Amazon with a specific focus on the Ucayali region promoting sustainable development decent work and fundamental rights at work. Through trilateral South-South cooperation between Peru Brazil the ILO and the UNDP the project seeks to strengthen regulatory and operational frameworks as well as institutional capacities to prevent identify assist and reintegrate victims.
The ILO is seeking to hire a National Project Coordinator to carry out activities in Lima which will involve travel to Ucayali. The activities will be carried out in coordination with other ongoing ILO cooperation projects in Lima. The National Project Coordinator (NPC) will be based in Lima Peru. The NPC will execute and coordinate the Project ensuring the timely and effective implementation of project activities and results at the national level.
The National Project Coordinator will work under the technical supervision of the ILO Specialist in Labor Administration and Labor Legislation for the ILO - Andean Countries who will coordinate with the assigned Project Manager from the Brazil Office.
The National Project Coordinator will cooperate closely with the relevant technical departments at Headquarters and staff from other ILO projects to facilitate maximum technical integrity of the project results as identified in the project document.
The ILO Director for the Andean Countries is the line manager for the position.
The National Project Coordinator (NCP) will be responsible for project management including the execution supervision and monitoring of all activities necessary to achieve the projects objectives and corresponding results in accordance with the projects work plan and monitoring and evaluation plan.
