Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Construction Resident Project Manager to join our Construction Management teams in the New York City Metropolitan area. The selected candidate will support and lead highway and bridge transportation projects working closely with clients contractors and multidisciplinary teams. This role offers the opportunity to oversee project delivery ensuring work is completed on time within budget and to the highest quality and safety standards while contributing to critical infrastructure improvements across the region.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of the field construction inspectors during the project construction phase including; preparation of inspectors daily work schedules ensuring site safety monitoring technical oversight quality of construction and Client satisfaction
  • Accountable for the planning coordination and inspection and construction management activities and assignments of all direct reporting staff to ensure efficient utilization of staffing
  • Balance work in the project office with the senior management team and also provide supervision of the field inspection teams working nights and weekends. Interface with contractors to ensure coordination of construction activities and to meet aggressive project schedules
  • Evaluate resolve and provide solutions to contractors and construction inspectors for constructability issues encountered at construction sites
  • Experience in the evaluation and validation of contractors change order requests against contract documents negotiating change orders costs and schedule impacts and make recommendations to the Construction Manager and Program Manager
  • Perform inspection and resident engineering activities on highway bridge related projects construction site safety standards and operations requirements
  • Develop and maintain project schedules ensuring timely completion of milestones and overall project delivery
  • Manage project budgets including cost estimation tracking and reporting to senior management and clients
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders including government agencies utility companies and local communities to ensure smooth project execution
  • Implement and oversee quality control processes to maintain high standards of construction and compliance with relevant codes and regulations
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks to project success developing contingency plans as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental health and safety regulations throughout the project lifecycle
  • Mentor and develop junior team members fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
  • Participate in business development activities including proposal preparation and client presentations to support company growth

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelors Degree plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Due to the projects associated with this position a US Citizenship is required
  • Transit and Transportation Experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Excellent written communications and presentation abilities in internal project settings with the senior management team external project stakeholders including senior client management leadership
  • 6 plus years of experience in resident engineering construction management project management engineering and related fields is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills staff supervision strong negotiation skills and conflict resolution abilities
  • Experience with NYSDOT or NYCDOT projects. A P.E. License in New York is preferred.
  • Software proficiency in Procore SharePoint MS Project
  • Certifications: PECCM NICET PMP DBIA
