Reports to Job Role: Lead Teacher

FLSA: Non-exempt

Level: Assistant

Descriptive Summary

The Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe nurturing and engaging learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. This role helps ensure that each childs developmental emotional and physical needs are met in accordance with program philosophy licensing regulations and quality standards.

Qualifications

Essential Functions

Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily activities that promote social emotional cognitive and physical development.
Provide attentive responsive care for infants toddlers and preschoolers including feeding diapering toileting and supervision during rest times.
Help maintain a clean safe and organized classroom environment.
Support childrens positive behavior encouraging self-regulation and problem-solving skills.
Build warm respectful and supportive relationships with children families and staff.
Observe and report child progress behaviors or concerns to the Lead Teacher.
Assist with classroom set-up clean-up and preparation of materials.
Follow all licensing health and safety regulations as well as center policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities)

18 years or older
High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or credential in early childhood education preferred.
Experience working with young children in a group setting preferred.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and engage in active play.
Strong communication teamwork and reliability.
Commitment to diversity equity and inclusion in the classroom.

Schedule: Full-time or part-time.

Compensation: Hourly wage commensurate with education and experience.

Work Environment

The work is performed in a typical office environment
Some work is performed outdoors in both the winter and summer.
