Reports to Job Role: Lead Teacher

FLSA: Non-exempt

Level: Assistant

Descriptive Summary

The Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe nurturing and engaging learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. This role helps ensure that each childs developmental emotional and physical needs are met in accordance with program philosophy licensing regulations and quality standards.

Qualifications

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily activities that promote social emotional cognitive and physical development.
  • Provide attentive responsive care for infants toddlers and preschoolers including feeding diapering toileting and supervision during rest times.
  • Help maintain a clean safe and organized classroom environment.
  • Support childrens positive behavior encouraging self-regulation and problem-solving skills.
  • Build warm respectful and supportive relationships with children families and staff.
  • Observe and report child progress behaviors or concerns to the Lead Teacher.
  • Assist with classroom set-up clean-up and preparation of materials.
  • Follow all licensing health and safety regulations as well as center policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities)

  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or credential in early childhood education preferred.
  • Experience working with young children in a group setting preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and engage in active play.
  • Strong communication teamwork and reliability.
  • Commitment to diversity equity and inclusion in the classroom.

Schedule: Full-time or part-time.

Compensation: Hourly wage commensurate with education and experience.

Work Environment

  • The work is performed in a typical office environment
  • Some work is performed outdoors in both the winter and summer.

  • Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate
