Job Posting: Support Teachers for SEL/Service-Learning Integration Project
Position: Support Teachers (Up to 3 positions available)
Location: Lafayette School
Project Duration: 30 hours during an 8 week span between Fall 2025 - June 2026
About the Project:
EPS is excited to announce an opportunity for up to three (3) support teachers to collaborate with a dedicated Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) team on an innovative 8-week service-learning project. This project will integrate SEL into academic courses creating meaningful learning experiences that foster both academic and personal growth for our students.
The support teachers will play a key role in co-creating and implementing the project working alongside the core SEL team. This is a unique chance to contribute to an initiative that embeds social-emotional competencies directly into academic learning empowering students to see the connections between their emotional growth and their academic success.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborative Unit Development: Work closely with the SEL team to design and implement one academic unit that integrates SEL standards and goals with service-learning.
- Student Engagement: Foster student ownership over their learning by facilitating discussions and activities that connect students perspectives to academic content and service-learning projects.
- Co-Construction of Knowledge: Co-create knowledge with students helping them explore real-world problems through a service-learning framework and guiding them in identifying solutions related to SEL competencies.
- Ongoing Support: Participate in regular meetings with the SEL team to collaborate on the implementation of lessons and provide ongoing support.
- Data Collection & Reflection: Collect data on student outcomes provide ongoing formative assessments and contribute to the reflection process to continuously improve the projects impact.
Key Expectations:
- Collaboration: Work in partnership with the SEL team to implement SEL through service-learning within academic settings.
- Professional Development: Attend a 3-day training in September 2025 to design an SEL/SL unit and prepare that unit for classroom integration.
- Unit Implementation: Implement one (1) integrated SEL/SL units across at least one academic course during the 8-week project duration between Fall 2025 and June 2026. These units will then be used with students every year after this year.
- Periodic Meetings: Meet periodically with the SEL team to support the implementation of lessons share insights and troubleshoot challenges.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to student-centered inquiry-based learning models particularly service-learning.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of educators students and community members.
- Experience with or a strong interest in social-emotional learning service-learning or project-based learning.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for creating a positive supportive learning environment for all students.
- Prior experience in teaching is preferred but not required.
Stipend Details:
- Training: 3-day professional development training in 2025.
- Stipend Pay: 30 hours of work which includes attending training collaborating with the SEL team and implementing lessons throughout the 8-week project not to exceed 30 hours at $40/hr.
- Total Stipend Amount: $1200.00
- Ongoing Support: Participate in periodic team meetings to receive coaching and guidance in the lesson implementation and assessment process.
