DOC Training Specialist I

The DOC Training Specialist provides support and expertise for the Sr. Managers of Transmission and Distribution regarding the progression qualification of DOC Supervisor Trainees. Supports DOC Supervisor trainees Operations Center professional staff and departmental leadership in training progressions. Manages instruction and on-the-job (OJT) training progression for DOC trainees communicates effectively all Operations Center personnel and documents and conveys progress to DLC Leadership. Works with the Operations Center Leadership to develop procedures and documentation related to tools and processes used by the Real Time Operators: Shift Supervisors DOC Supervisors and Switching Dispatchers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages the execution of Operations Center training program.
  • Manage the progress of Distribution Operations Center non-union Trainees to ensure timely completion and preparedness for independently operating the DLC distribution system including coordinating with Operations Center management regarding individual progress towards completing the program.
  • Participates and assesses trainee abilities to independently operate via written oral and practical assessments.
  • Assists Training & Compliance with the review modification and execution of the Annual Training Plan including drills in compliance with all applicable standards.
  • Working with Ops Center Training Team develop schedule document and deliver training for new tools & processes.
  • Working with Operations Realtime management Training & Compliance OCRE etc. revise and create plans procedures and operating guides.
  • Collaborate with Field Operations Engineering and Asset Management personnel and/or trainers to develop comprehensive training for the Operations Center.
  • Ensure applicable certifications are maintained for Shift Supervisors.
• Working with applicable teams to investigate and determine root causes of events and develop permanent mitigation actions such as safety events operating events compliance investigations etc.
• Assists management with identifying tracking and addressing trends related to safety training and performance.
• Aligns with and supports overall Operations Center goals and objectives.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Storm team duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelors Degree in a related discipline
• 7 years of related experience required
• Equivalent experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree
• 5 years of prior DOC Supervisor experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of electric utility operations.
• Experience leading a team.
• Program management experience.
• Working in a 24/7 utility control room environment with shift workers.
• Possesses and actively maintains applicable certifications.
• Working knowledge of applicable utility industry standards codes and practices.
• Experience with Operator Training Simulators and Energy Management Systems.

• Strong Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate across the organization.
• Ability to analyze and develop strategies to efficiently schedule and manage programs.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills organizational and time management skills.

Scope

Primary Focus is on daily deliverables outputs and reporting. Accountable for managing ones own time and work flow and leads projects and/or large project steps. Work is complex in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Acts independently the majority of the time requiring guidance in only complex situations. Has well established capabilities acts as a resource to less experienced staff on moderately complex issues.

Decision Impact

Problems and issues faced are vague and require analysis of multiple sources of information for solution. Draws on significant past experience to perform role. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.

Hybrid Work

Position follows our hybrid work model with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

Storm Roles

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position as duties can vary across the Company.Examples of storm roles could include but arent limited to duties such as: working with operations for service center support or with the communications customer service or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information etc.

Data Governance

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
