Palliative Care South East provides palliative care in the southeast metropolitan region of Melbourne. We support people with a life-limiting illness to live well and in doing so provide support at home to improve the quality of life of individuals carers and families. Our specialist palliative care services are provided to people of all ages free of charge in the Local Government areas of Cardinia Casey Greater Dandenong and part of Kingston.
Role
The Palliative Care Counsellor works within an interdisciplinary team and provides specialist grief loss and bereavement counselling interventions for clients carers and family members pre and post death. Counselling interventions are based on current grief and bereavement models and the principles of best practice.
The Palliative Care Counsellor will participate in care coordination with other members of the interdisciplinary team community service providers and other external stakeholders as appropriate whilst displaying and promoting high levels of professional behaviour strong teamwork and collaboration and a positive workplace culture. This is on 02-year contract requiring a commitment of 0.4 FTE starting in November 2025.
Required Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Counselling and or related field
- A postgraduate qualification in Palliative Care Grief/loss and/or Bereavement is desirable
- Eligibility for membership with the Australian Counsellors Association or equivalent peak body
- National Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check prior to commencing employment
- A current Full Drivers licence for the State of Victoria
