Position: Suicide Prevention/ Family Counselor

Work Location: 1310 Rockaway Parkway Brooklyn

Hours: Full Time 35 hours per week Tuesday-Friday 1:00pm - 9:00 pm and and Saturday 10:00am - 6:00pm

This position is 100% fully in-person. No remote work available

Position Overview: The Suicide Prevention Programs for Hispanic/Latino black/African American Asian American/Pacific Islander American Indian/Alaskan Native and LGBTQI New York Youth and Young Adults age 18-24. The Team Leader ensures an effective therapeutic milieu is established and ingrained in all aspects of the Suicide Prevention Program through the application of best practices in their work with youth and families. The primary role of this position is to establish a healthy relationship with each participant in the group and provide guidance modeling and opportunities for the youth as well as independent living and parenting skills.

Currently Looking for a Family Support Counselors have the natural ability to form positive supportive relationships with children and adults in caring family and community based environments. The family worker will assists with the coordination of services and communication of community-based resources. Provides support to the youth Peer Advocate including problem resolution and customer service; documentation attends Child and Family Teams and performs other duties as assigned which may include mentoring children assisting with living skills providing respite for families and other supportive services.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Behavioral Health related field or Human Services.

• Experience working with young adults and conducting at risk assessments

• Ability to engage with others easily coordinate with care coordinators and follow up in timely manner.

• Community engagement and outreach

• Provides academic and vocational support

• Conduct Risk Assessments and Wellness activities

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening and/or weekend hours.

• Detail oriented & ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

• Demonstrated ability to remain calm in crisis situations work independently and cooperatively recognize personal limitations and relate positively and with empathy to all persons regardless of age race creed gender or sexual orientation.

• Maintain professional conduct consistent with ethical professional practice and the policies and procedures of the agency.

• Maintain a professional demeanor and positive working relationships with internal and external team members stakeholders and community and business partners.

• OMH Fingerprinting and Criminal Background Check is required.
