Job Summary

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Crime Victim Services Division of the Illinois Attorney Generals Office serves victims of crime by administering various programs that directly benefit victims of crime including those that assist victims with the financial burden resulting from injuries of crime. Through the Crime Victims Compensation Program the division offers information resources and reimbursement to crime victims and the organizations that assist them.
An Assistant Attorney General in the Crime Victim Services Division is responsible for managing a team of analysts processing compensation claims reviewing completed investigatory reports and preparing them for submission to the Court of Claims. Assistant Attorney Generals also represent the State of Illinois in Court of Claims administrative hearings engage in personal and telephone contact with crime victims as needed and conduct other legal research as assigned. The tasks assigned have a significant administrative function with 85% of the work involving document review file maintenance and monitoring work flow.

Qualifications

Candidates must be licensed in the State of Illinois at the time of application. Preferred candidates will have experience working with crime victims (including criminal prosecution or criminal defense work) Excellent organizational skills public speaking computer skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively are essential functions of this position. Ability to speak Spanish a plus.

Supplemental Information

Salary: Salaries are commensurate with number of years of practice as a licensed attorney and range from $ 82000 to $ 107550.
