Status of Employment:

Part-Time Non-Exempt Union-Subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement through Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local #73.

Compensation & Benefits:

Expected hiring range $15.00 - $16.25 based on education experience and skills.

Essential Functions:

• Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance of park district athletic fields.
• Perform routine mowing operations.
• Perform general sports turf maintenance functions including but not limited to over-seeding aerating and landscape improvements/maintenance.
• Perform ball diamond preparation.
• Perform athletic field painting and preparation.
• Perform park clean up duties and restroom cleaning.
• Handle hazardous chemicals.
• Assist in maintenance and repair of site amenities including but not limited to soccer goals signs bleachers benches irrigation systems and synthetic field maintenance.
• Operate park district vehicles and small equipment as assigned.
• Operate high risk equipment such as heavy machinery.
• Prepare status report of assigned tasks on assignment checklist/work assignment form.
• Assist with equipment maintenance tool upkeep and work area housekeeping.
• Assist staff in the performance of their duties.
• Attend pertinent departmental/park district meetings and in-house training sessions.
• Conduct self in accordance withthe policies and procedures as established by the park district.
• Participate in park district safety and training program to ensure that work performed and services provided are implemented in a safe manner.

Ability to:

• Work weekends and holidays as assigned.
• Operate vehicles and equipment necessary to perform job assignments.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Take initiative and responsibility.
• Perform duties with minimal supervision.
• Make timely and effective decisions.
• Follow-through with assignments.
• Provide good customer service internally to fellow staff and externally to customers and associates.

Age:

• 18 years and older.

Education:

• High school diploma preferred.

Experience:

• Athletic fields/golf course/landscape maintenance preferred.

License/Certification:

• Valid drivers license required.

Hours:

Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Must be available to work weekends overtime and holiday hours as needed.
