Job Description:
Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Quality Assurance Supervisor to join our Quality Team in Columbus this role you will direct and coordinate operational quality functions in line with applicable policies procedures regulations and contracts. You will also oversee incoming final in-process quality gate and milestone inspections to find opportunities for improvement throughout the inspection cycle of components and aircraft. Additional facets of the role include:
Evaluate and report on performance of team members and assign duties as required or directed by management
Evaluate the airworthiness of aircraft repairs and components.
Must be able to make decisions regarding safety of flight operations.
Advanced decision making required between team members and other departments regarding aircraft status.
Note: The incumbent for this role must have a valid & current Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P)

Its here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Your Challenges:
Compliance: 55%
Ensure inspection criteria and activities performed are in accordance with approved data maintenance manuals and regulatory requirements (i.e. FAA/OHSA/EPA) as well as company policies and procedures
Make sure safety compliance standards are met in the quality department for example use of personal protection equipment identification of FOD cleaning of parts and aircraft and parts protection
Maintain documentation used throughout the process to ensure compliance with regulations configuration obsolescence and design
Actively participate in all quality gates and/or in-process milestone inspections to identify potential issues and ensure that articles and aircraft are on schedule
Coordinate with Quality Engineering Design Office and Technical Support to resolve technical issues/non-conformities in a timely manner and maintain target delivery date
Collaborate with Civil and Military Programs counterparts to meet customer contract requirements
Assist management team with the coordination of offsite maintenance activity and offsite deliveries
Review work performed for proper documentation
Supervise inspection of a variety of articles products or materials manufactured onsite or received from suppliers
Manage final inspections to verify conformance to type design
Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions finish and other measurable or observable characteristics of articles and aircraft
Ensure inspection standard operating procedures and design drawings and data to perform quality inspections on consumable material subassemblies and raw material are met
Generate Non-conforming reports to record and control nonconforming material throughout the company
Ensure that non-conformities are handled and monitored from creation to closure
Perform risk mitigation of potential escapes endangering the article or aircraft safety and launch immediate corrective action for any identified escapes or near misses
Attends all department and company meetings to address any quality related issues. Reports daily quality activities Quality Management.
Ability to return to service company owned aircraft.
Provide facility tours to customers and victors as required.
Responsible for implementing training matrix and for training new quality inspectors.
Acts as a Lead Auditor on the Internal Audit Team.
Provides escort support during external audits.

Focal point for performing interviews and final selections for inspection personnel with guidance and oversight from quality management
Research and validate tooling and supply requirements needed and report those needs to management for approval
Recommend and organize training plan for new hires and recurrent training as the need arises to further develop team in inspection methods regulatory requirements and company policies/procedures
Recommend annual goals and assist personnel with entry in MyPulse
Ensure completeness of inspection employees Training Records and compliance with annual training requirements in MyPulse and Loft
Attend and support scheduled status meetings department meetings and company events to report on and address any concerns regarding quality department functions
Work in an SAP NCM and/or MES systems for management of non-conformities activity rates and time card approvals
Monitor activity rate of assigned personnel to ensure accurate time charging and that quality targets are met
Provide technical guidance to team members about proper execution of documentation processes and procedures
Assist the team in troubleshooting issues and coordinate with supporting departments to recommend resolution plans
Liaise with partners to handle and correct issues that originate from assigned area of responsibility
Maintain close working relationship with involved parties in regard to schedule personnel priorities documentation and special instructions to provide periodic status to quality management
Continuous Improvement: 20%
Use processes and metrics such as but not limited to SQCDP key performance indicators practical problem solving (PPS) plan do check act (PDCA) root cause and corrective action and other quality department metrics to support continuous improvement of company policies procedures and processes ensuring that company objectives are on target.
Identify and recommend lean manufacturing projects that will improve the overall process
Coordinate technical/quality status updates to department management for reporting to internal/external parties
Suggest and implement changes in working conditions and identify equipment to increase the efficiency accuracy safety and quality of department and work crew
Demonstrate creativity propose and implement innovations using lean methodologies to ensure that top company objectives (TCOs) are met
Identify and implement process improvements.
Review and update company procedures to ensure they are up to date and meet regulatory requirements.
Advanced understanding and training in practical problem solving and root cause and corrective action.

Your Boarding Pass:
Possess a Bachelors Degree in Aerospace/Aviation Management or Equivalent Experience
6 years Quality Inspection on aircraft components and systems
or
In lieu of degree 10 yearscombined experience as a quality inspector and/or certificated aviation maintenance technician (AMT) on aircraft systems
Must have an A&P License
Able to support functions in multiple areas such as but not limited to production repair station manufacturing composites electrical/avionics back-shop warehousing dynamic component repair blades and tail-boom back-shop
Strong communication skills ability to prioritize and handle demanding workload under a strict time line.
Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations 14 CFR Parts 21 43 and 145
Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Requirements and Systems
Ability to interpret technical and regulatory documentation
Must have the ability to collaborate with the external customers about aircraft and aircraft records presentation at delivery
Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (a U.S. Citizen green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)
Preferred Education/Skills:
2 years experience as a Lead Inspector
6 years Quality Inspection on Airbus Products
FAA Inspection Authorization (IA)
FCC 2nd Class License
NDI Level II or III
Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR)
ASQ or CMQ certified
Knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
Knowledge of EASA & UK CAA Regulations
Knowledge and Use of SAP
Proficiency in French German or Spanish
Travel Required:

Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens able to read documents reports and engineering drawings. Must have correctable near and far vision if applicable.

Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings deliver information and participate in communications. Daily

Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily
Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes but is not limited to Safety Shoes Safety Glasses Hearing Protection Respirators/Masks and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
