We have an exciting opportunity for an early in career policy professional to join our Media & Screen Policy team. This is a permanent position reporting to the Manager Policy Media & Screen.
Kōrero mō te tūranga About the role
In this role you will draw on your knowledge and experience of public policy processes to advise Ministers on a range of policy issues impacting on the media and screen sectors.
Our work spans the range of policy levers including regulatory funding and system-level policy and interesting issues that require balancing of economic cultural and social outcomes. This includes advising on matters such as investment in local content that New Zealanders access on our screens radios and other devices growing our creative and cultural exports and stewardship of broadcasting legislation and public media outcomes.
This role offers plenty of room and support for development and growth including opportunities to work collaboratively with other agencies and a wide range of stakeholders.

We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who can hit the ground running think strategically work through ambiguity and manage exchange this role will provide you with experiences variety and opportunities that will enhance your career.
Ideally you will have:
- Relevant experience providing policy analysis and advice in the public sector at an advisor level
- Prior knowledge of media and screen sector issues is not required but would be valuable
- Analytical and research skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective relationship management skills
- An ability to provide quality advice under tight timeframes
- Some understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and application of these in public policy and partnership with Māori
