Role description:
In AIBI we are seeking a skilled Traffic Engineer to support urban traffic operations signal management and mobility planning. The role involves conducting traffic studies impact assessments and developing traffic management plans to enhance safety and efficiency. Candidates will use traffic simulation and analysis tools to optimize junction and corridor performance while integrating road safety strategies as part of overall mobility solutions. The engineer will collaborate with traffic police city authorities and control centre teams to implement data-driven real-time traffic operations. Experience in road safety audits highway design and traffic survey analysis is essential. Proficiency in national and international standards stakeholder coordination and technical reporting will enable the delivery of sustainable safe urban traffic systems.
Role accountabilities:
Traffic Studies & Impact Assessments:
Conduct Traffic Impact Assessments (TIA) and Transportation Impact Studies (TIS) for new developments and infrastructure projects.
Lead traffic signal feasibility and corridor improvement studies recommending engineering and operational enhancements.
Analyse and interpret traffic data congestion patterns crash data and road user behaviour.
Prepare comprehensive data-driven reports on traffic performance safety trends and mitigation measures.
Traffic Simulation & Planning:
Perform junction and corridor improvement studies using traffic simulation tools (e.g. VISSIM SUMO SIDRA Synchro).
Develop traffic signal timing plans and adaptive signal control systems to optimize flow and reduce congestion.
Design and optimize pedestrian crossings bicycle lanes and multi-modal integration to improve overall mobility.
Road Safety Integration:
Implement road safety solutions as a core part of traffic operation and planning beyond audits.
Conduct safety reviews analyse accident blackspots and propose engineering countermeasures to enhance vulnerable user safety.
Traffic Operations & Control Centre Support:
Support traffic police and city authorities in incident management congestion monitoring and real-time traffic operations.
Develop standardize and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for efficient traffic management.
Monitor traffic control devices including signals signs and pavement markings to ensure compliance and performance.
Stakeholder Coordination & Implementation:
Collaborate with municipal corporations urban planning agencies law enforcement and other stakeholders to address urban traffic challenges holistically.
Propose and support the enactment of data-driven traffic policies system upgrades and safety programs.
Assist in traffic engineering and road safety designs for junctions corridors and pedestrian infrastructure.
Prepare and present technical reports design documents and project updates to clients and authorities.
Qualifications & Experience:
Masters degree in Traffic Engineering Transportation Engineering or a related field.
5 years of experience in urban traffic engineering and operations.
Expertise in traffic impact studies and urban traffic planning.
Experience with traffic simulation tools (SUMO VISSIM Synchro etc.).
Strong analytical skills in traffic data collection performance analysis and reporting.
Ability to work in a fast-paced control centre environment and handle real-time operations.
Effective communication and coordination skills with government agencies and field teams.
Passion for traffic operations problem-solving and urban mobility improvements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with GIS-based traffic analysis and ITS technologies.
Knowledge of Indian urban transport policies IRC guidelines and global best practices.
