Job Description

Your new role

As part of a compassionate multidisciplinary team in the Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub youll play a vital role insupporting adults in Victoria who are experiencing mental health or wellbeing this role you will deliver short-term generalist mental health counselling tailored to individual needs. This includes providing brief solution-focused interventions conducting risk assessments liaising with medical and allied health professionals and referring clients to long-term mental health or specialist services where appropriate.

About the program

Mental Health and Wellbeing Hubs were established in 2021 in response to the increased need for mental health support during the COVID-19 pandemic. These Hubs provide free accessible support to adults in Victoria who are experiencing mental health or wellbeing challenges. They complement clinical treatment by offering active non-clinical support to individuals currently experiencing or recovering from mental ill-health.

Support is also available to families friends and carers of those affected by mental health challenges. Many service users may be facing co-occurring issues such as physical health concerns Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) use or housing instability. The Hubs also support individuals experiencing family violence (FV) and where needed facilitate referrals to specialist FV services.

Your skills and experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in an allied health discipline (Social Work Psychology Mental Health Nursing Occupational Therapy or equivalent)
  • Relevant experience post qualification in a community mental health program delivering direct clinical services to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience in mental health counselling including brief interventions within a recovery-oriented and trauma-informed framework.
  • Proven ability to undertake comprehensive clinical risk assessments including suicide and self-harm risk and to develop appropriate management and safety plans.
  • Sound knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to community mental health services including familiarity with MARAM FVISS and CISS frameworks as they relate to information sharing and risk management.
