As the Technical Manager of the My TELUS App and Web you will lead the technical strategy and delivery of our React Native mobile applications and web experiences which supports millions of mobile and home service customers. Youll be responsible for delivering high-quality scalable and innovative mobile solutions overseeing technical architecture ensuring cross-platform stability and managing performance metrics. You will champion technical excellence in mobile development promote engineering best practices and support the professional growth of your development team.

You will take ownership of the mobile engineering strategy and program delivery within your area addressing the needs of customers stakeholders and the broader CIO team. Collaboration with Product Design and Operations teams is crucial for the successful delivery of projects that align with our Engineer Excellence objectives. Youll also build and support a highly engaged performant technical team and act as a technical mentor and coach to help build a strong and enduring engineering culture at TELUS. Reporting to the Director of Mobility & App Digital Experience you will work with cross-functional teams to achieve our engineering excellence targets.

You are a passionate technical leader who will use your mobile development expertise and experience leading engineering teams to be the guiding voice for your team. You can balance day-to-day technical challenges with the demands of a fast-paced agile team. Youll manage the growth and development of a diverse team of mobile developers with varying digital skill-sets and create an environment that fosters technical innovation and where quality code is delivered naturally. You have the best of both worlds with the ability to be a technical champion for your team focused on creating an engaged and strong engineering culture PLUS building technical strategy to take us to the next level.

What youll do

Engineering excellence & delivery

  • Provide hands-on technical guidance in React Native development and collaborate with engineers to establish mobile development best practices architectural standards and technical roadmaps
  • Lead code reviews technical planning sessions and architectural discussions
  • Manage project timelines technical deliverables and dependencies ensuring timely delivery of high-quality mobile applications
  • Drive continuous improvement in mobile development processes ensuring efficiency quality and cross-platform scalability
  • Collaborate with TELUS Product groups to support a digital roadmap for the My TELUS App and execute on delivering performant mobile experiences
  • Partner with various communities of practice (Architecture Quality Engineering Platform) to create best-in-class mobile technology strategies


Support a global technical team

  • Lead a global mobile software engineering delivery team
  • Mentor and develop React Native expertise within the team
  • Foster an innovative technically-focused work environment that encourages experimentation and continuous learning
  • Guide the teams technical focus and remove technical obstacles to maximize value delivery
  • Ensure team members have the necessary technical tools frameworks and training


Lead with operational excellence

  • Oversee mobile app performance crash reporting and platform reliability
  • Manage technical debt and platform modernization initiatives
  • Oversee mobile app release management and deployment strategies

What you bring

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in mobile technical leadership roles with 2 years of people management
  • Proven experience with React Native development and cross-platform mobile applications
  • Strong understanding of mobile architecture patterns and best practices
  • Experience managing the full mobile development cycle from technical requirements to app store deployment
  • Demonstrated success in leading high-performing mobile development teams
  • Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
  • Strong technical decision-making skills with a focus on scalability and performance
  • Deep understanding of mobile app performance optimization and debugging

Great to have:

  • Experience with native iOS/Android development
  • Contributions to open-source mobile projects
  • Experience with mobile app analytics and crash reporting tools
  • Knowledge of mobile security best practices
