Working at BlackBerrys headquarters in Waterloo ON or remote the Senior Financial Reporting Analyst will join a team of dynamic and experienced accounting professionals on the Companys accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Director Assistant Corporate Controller the position will have a critical role in the preparation of the Financial Statements and Notes and Management Discussion and Analysis. The position will lead/assist in other accounting and reporting related ad-hoc projects including stock compensation researching technical accounting guidance related to new accounting pronouncements and complex transactions writing accounting position memos and benchmarking industry financial reporting practices.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the Companys equity related filings with regulatory authorities and the accounting for stock compensation utilizing the Companys equity plan management software
  • Assist with the end-to-end process of the drafting of the Companys External Financial Statements and Management Discussion & Analysis including preparation of required working papers for note disclosures
  • Ensure the above meets all disclosure requirements conform to industry standards and is complete accurate and appropriate
  • Prepare technical accounting memos on routine and non-routine transactions to support the Companys accounting position under U.S. GAAP
  • Assist with the closure of the quarterly review and annual audit performed by the External Auditors
  • Assist with preparing working papers for the Companys global statutory audits
  • Monitor standard-setting activities and research new guidance for impact to the Companys accounting treatments
  • Serve as a technical resource on project teams to ensure proper accounting under new systems and initiatives and identify new accounting policy requirements early

Qualifications/Experience:

  • CPA designation is preferred
  • 3 years experience working within public accounting
  • Strong technical accounting skills with knowledge of U.S. GAAP or IFRS accounting standards
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical problem solving and organization skills.
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to think strategically and effectively work across functions to resolve complex business problems
  • Creative and innovative with the ability to recommend and implement improved processes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including excel
