Job Summary

1.0 FTE (80 hours/pay period); Wednesday-Sunday 9:00am-5:30pm. Position is based at the main St. Paul campus location.

Performs routine housekeeping tasks to provide a clean safe sanitary environment for our patients and other customers. This is accomplished by following practices that meet the standards of the healthcare industry regulatory guidelines for quality cleaning and infection prevention practices as well as Gillette Children standards. Position also responsible for completion of set-ups and takedowns of meeting space project work such as stripping and refinishing hard floor shampooing carpet and furniture wall washing and operation of various floor machines; and other project duties as directed by supervisor.

This position demonstrates EVSs commitment to Gillettes standards of best practices for customer service and for creating a teamwork environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $21.00/hour to $27.44/hour with a median wage of $22.87/ addition this position is eligible for shift differential pay which includes $.95/hour for weekends $.95/hour for evenings and $2.00/hour for nights. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience education certification & licensure and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees. Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a clean safe sanitary environment according to infection prevention and quality standards.
  • Performs basic housekeeping duties such as damp wiping dusting vacuuming dust and damp mopping and bed changes in all areas for patients and family support staff / physicians / volunteers and visitors to the facility.
  • Performs all cleaning and waste management tasks in Inpatient Units Clinics Surgical Operating Rooms all sterile areas public areas and all points of contact with patients visitors and staff according to Infection Control Safety and other regulatory guidelines
  • Changes privacy and shower curtains according infection prevention guidelines.
  • Restocks hand hygiene products such as paper products liquid handwashing soap and hand sanitizer. Think and act responsibly to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Collects and transports municipal trash infectious waste (i.e. sharps containers) non-confidential recycling and soiled linen.
  • Routine removal of spots from carpets furniture walls cabinets doors and other surfaces in assigned area.
  • Performs other project duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Completes set-ups and takedowns of meeting space.
  • Performs project work such as burnishing floor scrubbing stripping and refinishing hard floor shampooing carpet and furniture wall washing and operation of various floor machines.
  • Completes routine tasks as stated in written assignment and documents quality and productivity information into written and/or electronic formats.
  • Utilize Gillettes electronic medical record program (QCPR) to removes completed discharge cleaning from Discharge list and also to remove from service patient room when performing floor maintenance and then return to service through same program.
  • Utilizes Surgery Patient Tracking program to understand and respond appropriately and timely to Operating Room turnover status throughout shift.
  • Stays current on safety protocols by responding to emergency situations and providing information upon request regarding safe handling of all hazardous materials waste and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervisor manager or lead housekeeper.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must have a score of 80% or higher on the Environment of Care Pre-Employment Reading Comprehension Test.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Working independently to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to follow established routine to satisfy customer requirements and department protocol
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate professionally with all customers responding verbally to customers in a manner consistent with organizational customer services values
  • Ability to be flexible; use critical thinking while meeting the needs of external and internal customers; able to handle varied cleaning tasks; alter activity as priorities change in a busy area
  • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend English language in order to read labels on all cleaning chemical packaging and to perform tasks following the written directions and safety precautions and to read and comprehend Infection Control Precaution signs in order to perform work within infection control expectations including the use of personal protection equipment (PPE) when appropriate. â
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations effectively including but not limited to blood and body fluid spills clean up
  • Knowledge of EVS processes and frequency of cleaning expectations in order to follow daily weekly monthly quarterly and annual cleaning schedules

Preferred:

  • Experience performing a variety of general cleaning tasks in occupied spaces
  • Ability to use computers and related software applications
