FILLING SEVERAL LIMITED-TERM WINTER MAINTENANCE POSITIONS THAT MAY LAST FROM OCTOBER TO APRIL BUT WITH NO GUARANTEE.
Position(s) will work full-time hours during the limited-term assignment.
This position performs maintenance of state trunklines within the right-of-way for Region Maintenance Crew in the Grand Region and operates various pieces of equipment used in the maintenance and repair of roadways Bridges Forestry Sign and Winter Maintenance operations. This position is required to participate in the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Transportation Maintenance Worker (TMW) work element system and travel with a crew in the assigned geographic area. Operate a vehicle or vehicle/trailer combination with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26001 pounds or more (e.g. lift bed truck hydraulic crane snowplow etc.) when performing maintenance activities.
Winter months are spent performing winter maintenance duties which may be Region-wide while on temporary winter assignment to Maintenance Garages.
The Salary listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (6) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (E8) level. Based on education and experience candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Experience
Transportation Maintenance Worker 6
No specific type or amount of experience is required.
Transportation Maintenance Worker 7
One year of experience equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker 6 or Laborer E6 with experience in roadway roadside bridge or sign maintenance or pavement marking.
Transportation Maintenance Worker E8
Two years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker including one year equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker 7; or one year of skilled trades experience at the E9 level.
Transportation Maintenance Worker 6 7 E8
Must possess a CDL at the time of hire.
Transportation Maintenance Worker E8
The MDOT Statewide Work Element Coordinator must approve satisfactory completion of the MDOT TMW Work Element training and certification program.
