Senior Quality EngineerSDET Common Design System

As a Senior Quality Engineer/SDET of the Global Design System at Manulife you will play a key role in a dedicated Global Design System team responsible for by developing implementing and monitoring quality control processes analyzing data to identify and resolve issues and collaborating with design and IT teams on global components and patterns used across digital products this role you will design and execute test strategies that ensure components are setting quality standards accessibility criteria and ready for use by hundreds of teams and millions of end users.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on handling testing and regression unit and front-end-UI tests that will blend quality engineering with system-level thinking. Youll help drivereliable releases ensurecross-platform consistency and build tools and frameworks that support scalable testing for design system artifacts inReact Native Mobile React webenvironments.

Position Responsibilities:

• Own thetesting strategyfor the global design system components includingunit integration regression accessibility and visualtesting.
• Build and maintainautomated test suitesacross platforms
• Implement and monitorCI/CD pipelinesthat validate every design system release (e.g. GitHub Actions or Jenkins).
• Partner with developers and designers to write testable components and definetest-driven workflows.
• Conductmanual exploratory testingwhere automation isnt sufficientespecially for accessibility responsiveness and edge cases.
• Performcross-browser and cross-device testingto ensure consistent behavior across supported environments.
• Developvisual regression testing pipelinesusing tools like Percy Chromatic or Storybook Addons.
• Test foraccessibility compliance(WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA) using tools such as axe Lighthouse and screen readers.
• Maintain detailed bug reports dashboards and release health metrics to inform quality practices.
• Collaborate acrossproduct platform content and accessibilityteams to embed quality at every level of the system lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:

• 7 years of experience inQA engineering SDET or software testingroles within large-scale front-end platforms or design systems.
• Proficiency withtest frameworks and toolslike Jest React Testing Library Cypress Playwright Selenium.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong experience testingcomponent libraries and UI frameworks(e.g. React Web Components).
• Experience building & supporting various automated testing approaches: unit testing visual/snapshot testing accessibility testing performance testing & cross-platform testing.
• Has led past projects from beginning to end.
• Familiarity withdesign systems and Storybookworkflows; able to test components in isolation and in context.
• Experience building automated testing pipelines in CI/CD environments.
• Solid understanding ofweb accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1/2.2)and how to test for compliance.
• Detail-oriented with strong debugging skills and a mindset forpreventing regressions.
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Bonus: Experience in react mobile testing visual diff tools (Percy Chromatic) and accessibility testing at scale.
