Position Summary:
The Scientific Associate IV will work within an exciting new multidisciplinary international research project which seeks to accelerate the early stages of drug discovery. Reporting to the Co-Director of the UHN Collaborative Centre for Drug Discovery the Scientific Associate IV will lead a research team working on high throughput protein production and coordinate activities with collaborating research teams in protein science novel compound screening technologies protein interaction characterization medicinal chemistry data science and AI/machine learning. We work closely with academic institutions pharmaceutical companies and technology leaders to develop innovative tools and platforms that make biomedical research faster more collaborative and more impactful. This open science milestone-driven program seeks to revolutionize and democratize drug discovery to advance human health.

Duties:
- Lead a team of 5-8 scientists to produce recombinant proteins for in vitro assays.
- Innovate and coordinate production QC and sharing of proteins with collaborating groups.
- In collaboration with project team and other project coordinators maintain and optimize a tracking database for protein submissions;
- Prepare regular reports KPIs and dashboards for internal leadership.
- Identify bottlenecks in logistics or sample flow and implement solutions to streamline workflows.
- Support project planning resource allocation risk management and budgeting.
- Lead motivate and support team members; resolve problems and conflicts effectively.
Qualifications :
- PhD in Biological or Chemical Sciences
- Extensive experience in protein production for drug discovery including biophysical characterization and validation of protein samples and proteinligand interactions as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and/or patents in protein sciences.
- Experience managing collaborative multi-site research projects preferred.
- Outstanding communication interpersonal and time management skills.
- Experience in data collection reporting and database management; familiarity with LIMS.
- Proficiency with project management (e.g. Jira Microsoft Project Google Docs) collaboration (e.g. Slack Microsoft Teams) and cloud storage tools (e.g. Google Drive Dropbox OneDrive).
- Willingness and ability to travel to collaborating sites for coordination and scientific meetings.
