Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in people s lives while building expertise in the specialized field of affordable housing compliance. As a Housing Compliance Specialist you ll be at the heart of helping families secure affordable housing by analyzing regulatory documentation ensuring compliance with housing laws and facilitating the approval process for new residents and lease renewals. You ll work with cutting-edge property management systems receive comprehensive training on industry-specific regulations and have the opportunity to interact with diverse communities. This role offers excellent growth potential in the expanding affordable housing sector while providing the flexibility of remote work and the satisfaction of meaningful impactful work.

Responsibilities
  • Analyses and review regulatory paperwork and documentation from housing applicants and lease renewals
  • Examine financial documents including bank statements affidavits of student status and other compliance-required materials
  • Make informed approval recommendations based on affordable housing regulations and program requirements
  • Prepare comprehensive lease packages for approved applicants to facilitate smooth move-ins
  • Communicate effectively with residents including Spanish-speaking community members throughout the application process
  • Proactively identify and escalate compliance issues or concerns to ensure regulatory adherence
  • Apply specialized knowledge of affordable housing laws and regulations gained through comprehensive company training
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in property management systems

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in real estate preferably in leasing property management or related field
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred to serve diverse resident population
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook)
  • Experience with property management systems (Yardi experience is a significant plus)
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Disciplined reliable work approach with ability to manage multiple tasks independently
  • Proactive communication style with confidence to raise issues and provide recommendations
  • Ability to thrive in a remote work environment while maintaining high productivity
  • Interest in making a positive impact on affordable housing and community development
  • Willingness to learn specialized regulations and compliance requirements through comprehensive training
