Air New Zealand is on a bold journey to become the worlds leading digital airline. We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer - Google Cloud (Internal job title: Infrastructure Operations Specialist) to design build and optimise the platforms that power our digital products and services. This role is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise in GCP at scale helping shape infrastructure that is secure resilient and future-fit.
As part of our Digital Platforms Tribe youll work with product and app teams across the business enabling innovation while ensuring platforms meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. Youll be hands-on in architecture automation and optimisation and play a key role in lifting Air New Zealands adoption of cloud-native practices.
How youll make an impact
- Design and implement scalable secure and high-performing solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
- Build automation and Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform and Cloud Deployment Manager.
- Optimise workloads for performance cost and reliability.
- Build robust and scalable deployment mechanisms of cloud-native applications and microservices.
- Monitor troubleshoot and resolve complex platform issues to maintain 24/7 reliability.
- Ensure compliance with security best practices and industry standards.
- Partner with development and operations teams to improve developer experience and continuous delivery pipelines.
- Stay current with emerging GCP services and advise on adoption opportunities.
What were looking for
- Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform including IAM networking storage and compute services.
- Experience building automation with Terraform Deployment Manager or similar IaC tools.
- Solid understanding of containers and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes (GKE preferred).
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security principles and application in enterprise environments.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues.
- Familiarity with hybrid or multi-cloud environments is an advantage with some exposure to AWS or Azure preferred.
- A collaborative mindset with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
