Software Engineer (Java, Python, ML, AI)

The Role

• Work within the Personalisation squad in AIPS developing complex engineering solutions that power job personalisation for millions of job seekers globally 
• Contribute to communities of practice at SEEK and beyond; pursue mastery of software delivery
• Design develop and maintain software components and data systems to meet team goals
• Share responsibility for production services including uptime troubleshooting and SLA compliance
• Collaborate with Data Scientists Analysts Data Engineers and Strategy Managers in an agile environment

Key Responsibilities

• Transform complex requirements into practical solutions
• Design and implement robust scalable components focused on performance
• Own system components managing implementation and technical debt
• Ensure high service availability and SLA compliance Contribute to system roadmaps and capacity planning
• Develop testing strategies and drive continuous delivery practices
• Support and mentor team members Balance immediate delivery with long-term sustainability
• Design experiments to evaluate algorithms
• Participate in on-call rotation for critical services

Qualifications :

Essential Requirements

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in at least one: Java Rust Python Go or Typescript AWS cloud platform experience
• Understanding of machine learning deep learning and LLMs
• Experience building scalable resilient systems
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Functional programming experience (preferred)

Professional Skills:

• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Cross-functional teamwork experience
• Commitment to continuous learning

The Team

The AI & Platform Services (AIPS) team provides AI-centric core services that scale globally including search recommendations candidate matching and personalisation. AIPS works with internal partners who deliver products to candidates and hirers.

Team members work in squads combining three roles: AI (machine learning) Strategy (business/product) and Engineering (development/DevOps).
