Key Responsibilities

Policy Development and Enforcement: Create and update safety policies and procedures that align with local state and national regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Control: Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement controls to prevent accidents.

Safety Training and Education: Develop and conduct training programs to educate employees on safe work practices equipment use and emergency protocols.

Incident Investigation: Investigate workplace accidents incidents and near misses to identify root causes and implement measures to prevent recurrence.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the organization adheres to all relevant health and safety laws regulations and standards.

Emergency Preparedness: Support and coordinate emergency preparedness and response efforts including disaster management plans.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections audits incidents and safety-related training for tracking and accountability.

Equipment Management: Monitor and ensure that all safety equipment including personal protective equipment (PPE) is available functional and up to standard.

Waste Management: Properly register and arrange for the disposal of hazardous waste generated in the workplace.

Communication and Coordination: Effectively communicate safety information to employees and management and liaise with external regulatory agencies when necessary.

Key Skills & Qualifications

Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of hazards identification techniques (e.g. HIRA JSA) and emergency response procedures.

Attention to Detail: High level of vigilance to constantly monitor the work environment for potential safety hazards.

Leadership and Communication: Ability to motivate guide and clearly communicate safety goals and procedures to employees.

Problem-Solving: Skill in analyzing incidents identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.

Educational Background: Often requires a degree in a related field such as Fire and Safety or relevant engineering programs.
