The Collaborative Centre for Health Systems & Policy Research at the University Health Network in Toronto is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the areas of mathematical modelling of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The successful candidate will lead a major role in the development of a spatially structured (metapopulation) mathematical model to be used to investigate the impact of new RSV immunization products for infants. The candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team including investigators and knowledge users from academic applied and governmental organizations across Canada. The candidate will primarily work with two co-PIs located at UHN and Public Health Ontario.
The selected candidate would be responsible for the;
- Development of a new metapopulation model for RSV
- Conduct analyses of empiric data (e.g. census) to inform development of spatial model
- Review and validate different approaches and existing models
- Analyze interpret and summarize results
- Publish research findings in scientific journals and present them at scientific meetings
Qualifications :
- Demonstrated experience in the mathematical modelling of infectious diseases
- Completed Ph.D. in relevant field (e.g. applied mathematics epidemiology or other quantitative fields)
- Relevant knowledge and experience with programming (e.g. R Python)
- Evidence of independent and leading research roles including publications in high-impact journals
- Ability to work well in team environments with great interpersonal skills
- High degree of initiative and independence
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Familiarity with spatial models and/or metapopulation models; Statistics Canada Research Data Centers; and RSV are not required but would be assets
