Classification Range $16.50 - $24.00 per hour

Job Summary
The Oral History Clerical Student Assistant will work with the Lawrence de Graaf Center for Oral and Public History (COPH) office staff to provide reference and front desk assistance and oral history and archival processing assistance. The assistant will also perform general clerical duties and may have the opportunity to work on special projects as directed.
Hours must be approved by COPH and completed during its regular hours 9AM - 5PM Monday through Friday.
Under direct supervision Student Assistants perform duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized in a variety of positions that typically require the use of manual clerical public contact and/or analytical skill. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions. Specific job duties are defined by the appropriate campus department.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty staff and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
The candidate should possess:
Excellent interpersonal skills the ability to cooperate with others and support team efforts yet be able to work independently.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
Training and/or background in the field of history with a preference for knowledge in oral history.
General office experience with knowledge of office equipment. Computer skills especially familiarity with MS Excel and MS Word.
