Job Summary

Position Summary

Are you a skilled negotiator with a sharp eye for detail Do you thrive on building relationships and keeping projects on track Join our team as a Purchasing Agent and play a key role in ensuring our Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) projects run smoothly and cost-effectively.

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing purchasing and managing inventory for materials including electrical mechanical and piping components to support both fabrication operations and field projects. This role ensures that all purchases are accurate meet the project specifications are cost-effective high quality and delivered on time. The Purchasing Agent will work closely with project managers shop superintendents and vendors to maintain strong relationships and seamless operations.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Source negotiate and purchase materials (e.g. galvanized metal electrical components piping) for the fabrication shop and field projects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable delivery.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels ensuring timely replenishment to meet project demands.
  • Work with project managers and shop superintendents to forecast material requirements to forecast needs and coordinate timely deliveries.
  • Monitor purchasing budgets identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure purchases align with project estimates.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders deliveries and inventory transactions using procurement software.
  • Ensure all purchases meet contractual requirements project specifications safety standards and company policies.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and ensure prompt resolution of problems.
  • Assist in the mentoring training and growth of other employee owners.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of procurement experience ideally in construction MEP or manufacturing industries.
  • Excellent organizational time management problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Familiarity with MEP materials .
  • Proficiency in inventory management and procurement software.
  • Knowledge of construction project workflows and material specifications.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) for material coordination is a plus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position which will involve at least 40 hours per week. Occasional overtime as needed to meet critical deadlines.
