Position Overview:

As part of the talented Capitol Engineering Logistics team the CDL Truck Drive is critical to our operations. You will provide daily transport of precision tool & die components from our facility in Brookfield Wisconsin to Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac WI and other local Wisconsin destinations.

Essential Functions:

  • Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles ensuring compliance with all DOT regulations and company safety standards
  • Transport and deliver heavy high-value tool and die components and other manufactured goods using covered flatbed trailers
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections including checking oil fluids tires and safety equipment
  • Secure loads using appropriate methods (chains straps tarps) and ensure compliance with FMCSA cargo securement standards
  • Accurately process shipping documentation verify packing slips and obtain delivery confirmations
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report maintenance needs promptly
  • Assist with basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid CDL Class A license with current medical card
  • Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience; flatbed experience preferred
  • Proven ability to chain tarp and secure heavy loads
  • Strong understanding of highway safety laws weight limitations and preventative maintenance
  • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and materials
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience transporting tool and die equipment or other heavy industrial components
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Safely utilize overhead cranes and hoists
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

The hourly pay range for this position is $32.24 - $34.12. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills relevant experience business needs and geographic location.
