California State Polytechnic University Pomona invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Cal Poly Pomona is one of three polytechnic universities in the 23-campus California State University system and among 12 such institutions nationwide. Since its founding in 1938 Cal Poly Pomona students have participated in an integrative experiential learning education that is inclusive relevant and values diverse perspectives and experiences. Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering:The department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering as well as a B.S. in Computer Engineering; serving a diverse student body of approximately 1500 students. The graduate and undergraduate curricula include a large number of laboratories where students experience the practical application of concepts learned in the classroom. Additionally a capstone senior design project including both design and implementation is required of all undergraduates. The Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering B.S. degrees are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The primary focus of the ECE degree programs is on students who plan to go to work as engineers immediately after graduation. Position description:The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California State Polytechnic University Pomona invites applications for a position in Electrical Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and the potential to establish a research program that involves both undergraduate and graduate students. Teaching responsibilities will include both introductory and advanced courses as well as assisting in curriculum development. The applicant will be expected to advise students; serve on department college and university committees; and engage in professional activities. Applicants whose work supports the universitys Learn by Doing philosophy and demonstrates commitment to both the highest standards of professional ethics and to inclusion and equity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.

Minimum requirements include:

  • The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited university by the date of appointment. (Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students staff and faculty from diverse ethnic cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the IEEE code of ethics.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to teach a broad range of courses in Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated potential for developing innovative lecture and laboratory curricula.
  • Teaching experience in an ABET accredited Electrical Engineering program.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide hands-on educational experiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting the academic mission through university service work.
  • Demonstrated commitment to an active research agenda.
  • Relevant professional engineering work experience. This could include industrial experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop an applied research program including experience with contracts and grants for applied research projects preferably as a PI or co-PI.
  • Demonstrated potential to establish industrial collaborations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Preference will be given in order to candidates specializing in Control/Robotics Power Engineering Analog and Digital Electronics High-Frequency Electronics Communications and Signals and Systems.

Conditions of Employment:

Background Check:A background check (including a criminal records check) must be satisfactorily completed. Offers of employment are conditional and may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Final candidates being interviewed are expected to make a presentation of creative work and a teaching demonstration to faculty and also to interact with students.
