POSITION SPECIFICS

Campus Recreation is looking for an experienced and dynamic person to join our team as the Associate Director of Campus Recreation.

Under the general supervision of the Senior Associate Director for Programming the Associate Director provides leadership to and management of assigned areas including Fitness and Well-being Marketing Membership and Outreach. This position is a member of the department Leadership Team and will work collaboratively with the other Associate Directors to support the staff who execute the day-to-day. The Associate Director is expected to have a thorough understanding of departmental vision mission values and goals as well as student development theory and be able to communicate this information with Assistant Directors Coordinators and part-time staff.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Direct supervision and support of 2 Assistant Directors
  • Indirect supervision and support of 3 Coordinators and more than 125 part-time employees in assigned areas
  • Management and direction for the day-to-day operations of all assigned areas
  • Fiscal management of annual operating budgets of more than $1000000
  • Support of marketing and outreach efforts for assigned areas and development of promotional strategies
  • Collaboration with both internal and external groups to complete job responsibilities and support Campus Recreation
  • Lead guide and actively participate on work teams within the Department Division of Student Affairs and the University

Position Qualification

  • Knowledge of basic safety and risk management practices as they relate to collegiate recreation programs facilities and services is essential.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in student development is required.
  • Budgeting skills to develop supervise and manage multiple area budgets is required.
  • A working knowledge of software systems such as Innosoft Fusion WhenToWork or similar is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in recreation sports management higher education or a related field
  • Experience managing collegiate recreation unit areas with full-time staff supervisory and budgetary responsibilities
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with well-being programming and initiatives.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with Innosoft Fusion member management.

  • Ability to take initiative and have flexibility to adapt to shifting workload demands
  • Ability to work with a schedule that may include occasional evening and weekend hours
  • Ability to foster a positive climate among a diverse group of staff student employees and participants

Campus Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides recreation and well-being programs to the campus community through operation and administration of the following: Intramural Building McCoy Natatorium Stone Valley Recreation Area Tennis Center White Building Hepper Fitness Center Aquatics Athletic Training Club Sports Fitness and Wellbeing Intramural Sports and Outdoor Adventures. Campus Recreation is comprised of 48 full-time staff and more than 700 student staff members.

MINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree 8 years of relevant experience includes 3 years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid drivers license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position including all possible grades is $68200.00 - $102300.00.
