Tutors provide one-on-one and small-group support in a friendly collaborative environment. Youll help students across a range of subjects with opportunities to focus on writing reading and/or math. You may also visit Early College classes to offer 1:1 and small group tutoring support.

Roles & Responsibilities:

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy helping others learn building relationships and fostering a positive learning environment.

In this role you will:

  • Provide academic support to students in individual and small-group settings.
  • Write brief session reports to track student/group progress.
  • Communicate student progress to team members.
  • Help promote the Tutoring Center to the school community.
  • Assist with daily operations to keep the center running smoothly.

Position Details - SALEM HIGH SCHOOL

Hours: 70 minutes/week

Compensation: $500 stipend for SY 25-26 (Nov-June)

Supervisor- Alexandra Kirby Early College Coordinator

Location- SHS Tutoring Center (2nd floor SHS IMC)

This is a non-union grant-funded position.

Qualifications:

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Reliable punctual and able to follow schedule and program requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Comfort assisting in writing and/or math guiding students through problem-solving and assignments.
  • Previous tutoring experience familiarity with tutoring strategies and best practices and experience working in a high school setting preferred.

Requirements

  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with general academic subjects.
  • Advanced proficiency in writing reading and/or math is a plus.
