Were seeking a Criminal Records Auditor to join the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information (BCII)the states central repository for criminal history records.


Criminal Records Auditors play a critical role in ensuring that sensitive criminal justice data is accessed used and maintained in compliance with state and federal laws as well as Department policy. This work supports the integrity of information contained within systems such as the Louisiana Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (LLETS) Nlets the International Justice and Public Safety Network and the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services Divisions National Crime Information Center (NCIC) while also ensuring proper access to LLETS.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been in law enforcement; or compiling analyzing or processing criminal history fingerprinting records or crash report information:

Five years of experience in administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for six months of the general experience.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

As a Criminal Records Auditor at BCII you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance accountability and security in the use of Louisianas criminal justice information this role you will:

  • Audit the access and use of information retrieved by state local and non-criminal justice agencies through LLETS.
  • Utilize research analytical and system retrieval skills to review transactions initiated by LLETS agencies and operators to identify potential LLETS misuse.
  • Furnish audit agencies with pre-audit documentation outlining plans and objectives.
  • Analyze agency case reports (e.g. wanted persons missing persons stolen property) to ensure NCIC entries are complete accurate and supported by sufficient documentation.
  • Verify the accuracy and validity of NCIC entries by contacting victims of property theft and/or District Attorneys to confirm warrants remain prosecutable.
  • Document violations of state/federal law and departmental policy regarding dissemination or retention of LLETS information.
  • Identify areas of non-compliance recommend corrective actions and conduct follow-up audits to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Ensure all LLETS agencies maintain current signed User Agreements outlining standards and sanctions for use of BCII systems.
  • Review and recommend approval or disapproval of connectivity requests to LLETS.
  • Conduct pre-installation and audit inspections to ensure secure equipment environments and compliance with security standards.

Position Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional

Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression group.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday - Friday.

Compensation:This position is eligible for premium pay of up to $2.00 per hour. The salary ranges between a minimum of $42952 to a maximum of $84302.
