The performance in this position requires demonstrated ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) reporting standards familiarity with Universities of Wisconsin and State of Wisconsin fiscal rules policies and procedures and participation in the Universities of Wisconsin financial decision making.
This Financial Administration Accountant position would include responsibility for the following types of activity:
Leads and executes the development organization preparation and updating of complex financial statements journals accounts ledgers and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions.
Coordinates the development implementation and communication of system-wide financial measures procedures and related reporting to internal and external stakeholders
Perform other duties as assigned by Finance Administration leadership.
The Department of Financial Administration has the primary responsibility for the fiscal integrity of the Universities of Wisconsin. It is expected to provide a financial environment that is secure encourages the accomplishment of academic missions provides timely and accurate information and assists all levels of management in making prudent financial decisions.
Financial Administration has day-to-day operating and oversight responsibility for specific areas of system-wide financial management and related financial and budget controls and tax addition the Financial Reporting sub-unit within Financial Administration prepares the Annual Financial Report of the Universities of Wisconsin (UWs) as well as many other financial reports requested by parties both internal and external to the UWs.
The Financial Administration Accountant (job profile: Accountant III) is a full-time salaried (exempt) academic staff position. Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $79000- $89000 commensurate with the candidates education related experience and qualifications.
Work Location
The office location is located at 780 Regent Street Madison WI. An in-office requirement is expected three (3) days per week and two days may be worked off-site/remote. Telecommuting agreements are subject to change at any time.
