The System Design Division plays a critical role in AEMOs success driving the organisations collaborative and industry-wide efforts in meeting the engineering challenges of a net-zero energy system. The Division includes specialist areas in system planning forecasting future energy as well as onboarding and connections.
The Onboarding and Connections Group manages AEMOs end to end process for connecting registering and commissioning generators into the National Electricity Market.
About the Team
Our Onboarding and Connections Team are at the forefront of energy industry transformation. We collaborate with generation developers Network Service Providers (NSPs) and government agencies to drive project delivery accelerate connections and provide expert advisory services on system impact and critical issue resolution.
About the role
Reporting to the Manager Connections Delivery in Onboarding and Connections this role can be based across all states except Perth. AEMO provides an essential service and actively promotes flexible working arrangements. We have strong team structures culture and communication tools in place to ensure all employees remain connected to each other and the broader organisation.
With more than 160 GW of new generation to connect over the next 30 years this role offers the opportunity to lead a team of project managers delivering a diverse portfolio of connections projects across the NEM. Youll work closely with developers and Network Service Providers (NSPs) across transmission and distribution ensuring effective timely delivery while strengthening AEMOs partnerships within the energy industry.

This role gives you the opportunity to visit projects youve helped create build your reputation through industry forums and conferences and mentor junior team members while shaping the future of Australias energy system.
What you will be doing
Leading a team of up to nine staff you will oversee embedded consultants and contractors as needed and drive performance development aligned to AEMOs goals values and vision.
What you will bring to the role
Education
Engineering project management regulatory or stakeholder management qualifications and at least 10 years of relevant industry experience
