Job Description
Emergency Communications Engineer
Cedar Park Group is hiring an experienced Emergency Communications Engineer to support and oversee the technologies that power NYCs 911 and public safety communications environment. Youll deploy configure and support mission-critical network and telephony systems (E911/NG911 Text-to-911 ESInet unified communications) coordinate with carriers and neighboring jurisdictions triage incidents and guide vendorsensuring reliability resiliency and life-safety readiness across the platform.
Schedule/Shift: 35 hours/week; onsite; on-call/after-hours and some weekends required. 12 months contract.
Requirements
Mandatory
12 years working in data center/field environments supporting related infrastructure.
8 years in network support with LAN/WAN troubleshooting.
8 years across communications routing/transport/delivery (wireline wireless VoIP).
Proficiency with documentation tools (Excel Visio Word).
Strong knowledge of networking hardware topologies and telecom cabling standards; able to pull/terminate cabling.
Solid computing systems/hardware knowledge.
LEC circuit termination/turn-up experience.
Land-mobile-radio (LMR) experience including P25 conventional/trunked networks.
Experience with call routing selective routing trunking and location-based routing.
Ability to perform job-related physical tasks.
Able to follow detailed job documents and SOPs.
Willing to travel within NYC to meet SLAs; able to support on-call after-hours and weekend work as needed.
Excellent communication skillsclear written verbal and presentation abilities.
Desired
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
Hands-on experience with emergency communications infrastructure systems and applications.
Experience with DMS and ACD systems.
Knowledge of ANI/ALI services and 9-1-1 Call Handling Systems.
NG9-1-1 ESInet call routing experience.
SMS/RTT/TCC routing and SMS aggregation experience (Text-to-911).
Third-party emergency communication integrations.
GIS/location-based services experience.
Familiarity with 911-related TDOS/DDOS risk mitigation.
Responsibilities
Deploy and support emergency communications network infrastructure (racking cabling configuration and testing).
Provide technical support for E911/NG911 telephony and telecommunications systems delivering calls to Public Safety Answering Centers (PSAPs).
Support Text-to-911 services (inbound/outbound SMS MMS RTT).
Oversee vendor-managed ESInet services and systems.
Support unified communications services for public safety users.
Support emergency point-to-point links alarm relays automated inbound 911 relays telematics and third-party 911 communications.
Triage/investigate service and infrastructure incidents; determine root cause and drive remediation.
Maintain 911 and Text-to-911 lab/test environments; validate test cases and results.
Provide technology asset management support and oversight.
Coordinate deployments with originating service providers neighboring jurisdictions and relay centers.
Direct vendor activity across telecom services and infrastructure.
Perform data/performance analysis for communications services; document and report findings.
