Head of Launch Quality, Amazon Leo Quality

As Sr. Manager Launch Quality you will lead a team of talented quality professionals responsible for the quality assurance and control activities within Amazon Leos satellite launch operations. You will work with Engineering Mission Management and Payload Processing Operations teams to establish and operate quality system mechanisms that launch high-performance satellites at unprecedented scale.

Key job responsibilities
- Own quality management system processes for Amazon Leos satellite launch operations
- Lead a team of Quality Engineers Inspectors and Technicians supporting concurrent missions across multiple launch partners
- Weigh in on time-critical decisions impacting satellite quality as the most-senior quality leader within Launch
- Drive defect identification and reduction activities including application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools
- Foster a culture of quality improvement and learning with Amazon Leo


A day in the life
This role is a people manager and is the top quality leader within Amazon Leos satellite launch operations. This role must identify and solve problems within complex production operations while coaching teams and developing mechanisms to consistently deliver high-quality products.

About the team
Amazon Leo Quality Teams mission is to ensure that our supply chain manufacturing and launch operations build deliver and launch high-quality satellite infrastructure that will provide low-latency high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

- Experience in manufacturing process or industrial engineering
- Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering Computer Engineering or a related field
- 10 years working with commercial space and/or aerospace hardware
- 7 years working under AS9100 or ISO9001 compliance or similar
- 7 years leading APQP and Root Cause Analysis for hardware failures across multiple disciplines (PCBA assembly avionics machining test)
- 7 years managing Quality/Manufacturing teams

- Experience leading quality teams within the commercial space industry
- GD&T ASME Y14.5 and machined part inspection processes
- IPC610 Class 3 compliant Electronics assembly and inspection processes

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
