The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. The School which offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes is named after local philanthropist Tan Sri Dato Lee Kong Chian. Established in 2010 by Nanyang Technological University Singapore in partnership with Imperial College London LKCMedicine aims to be a model for innovative medical education and a centre for transformative research. The Schools primary clinical partner is the National Healthcare Group a leader in public healthcare recognised for the quality of its medical expertise facilities and teaching. The School is transitioning to an NTU medical school ahead of the 2028 successful conclusion of the NTU-Imperial partnership to set up a Joint Medical August 2024 we welcomed our first intake of the NTU MBBS programme that has been recently enhanced to include themes like precision medicine and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare with an expanded scope in the medical humanities. Graduates from the five-year undergraduate medical degree programme will have a strong understanding of the scientific basis of medicine with an emphasis on technology data science and the humanities.
The Librarian will establish and lead in the strategic development and delivery of an enlarged effective Systematic Search Services (SSS) which will support faculty and researchers for not only LKCMedicine but also our healthcare partners and University. This valued service will help faculty and researchers develop high quality search methodologies for their publications and which in turn contributes to the overall quality of their scholarly communications. Additionally he/she will also lead in managing professional services and initiatives supporting researchers covering planning managing publishing impacting and archiving that will promote scholarly output of LKCMedicine and our University.
Responsibilities:
Direct and manage an effective search service and programme to support researchers and faculty in their research and publishing
Partner with NTU Library on an enlarged Systematic Search Services (SSS) to provide high quality enquiry and advisory services on systematic reviews
Provide consultations and trainings on searching skills information seeking literature review and the research process
Manage creation and dissemination of materials that support in the process of research and academic writing
Design and deliver workshops and trainings on referencing and using bibliographic management tools to assist with academic research and writing
Create instructional materials learning activities and interactive learning tools to promote the research services and academic integrity
Develop online or print materials to support the scholarly communication processes of creating archiving disseminating and promotion
Develop medical and health sciences book journals and electronic resources collections to ensure that users are provided with relevant and critical resources to support their research teaching and learning
Assist the Head of Medical Library to manage all aspects of the daily operations of the Medical Library and which includes supervising support staff
Monitor trends feedback policies and procedures to ensure continuous improvement in operations and services
Requirements:
A good bachelors degree plus a masters degree in Library or Information Science or equivalent postgraduate qualification recognized by the Library Association of Singapore (LAS)
At least 5 years work experience in a tertiary/research/medical library
Good communication skills (writing and speaking)
Good independent learning skills with a strong desire for continual life-long learning
Good organizational and time management skills
Embraces changes in technology and environment
Good inter-personal skills and able to relate well to users and colleagues
