Job Description
What Youll Be Doing

The Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions including journal entries reconciliations accounts payable and financial reporting. This role supports the churchs mission by ensuring accuracy integrity and stewardship of financial resources.
Your Day-to-Day
Every day looks different but heres a snapshot of what youll be up to:
- Prepare and record general ledger journal entries for bank transactions
- Prepare and analyze the trial balance as part of the monthly close process
- Manage the accounts payable process ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare offering batches and reconcile giving revenue
- Respond to ad hoc reporting requests related to giving and overall financials
- Perform other church duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Finance to help all people of all ages all the time advance in their journey with Christ
What Were Looking For
The must-haves for this role:
- Education & Experience: We are looking for someone with a bachelors degree (but it is not required) and a minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting.
- Skills & Strengths: We are looking for someone who:
- Align with the vision and mission of BattleCreek Church.
- Demonstrated experience in general ledger reporting and financial statement preparation
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct and/or Ministry Platform considered a plus
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment

The Essentials
Depending on the role you might find yourself in an office on stage out in the community or working behind the scenes. Evening and weekend hours may be requiredits all part of ministry life!
This role is primarily office-based but may involve some physical activity including standing lifting (up to 20 pounds) kneeling setting up equipment or prepping for eventssometimes even late at night. Dont worry; well ensure you know what to expect!
